Yari, Senator Marafa condemn attack on Marafa’s supporter in Zamfara

Former Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar and Senator Kabir Marafa have condemned attacks on Marafa’s supporter, Shamsu Shehu, by hired thugs in Zamfara State.

It was gathered that political thugs attacked Marafa’s supporter around Government House, Gusau in a broad daylight last week Friday.

Separate statements issued by the chairman of the publicity of Yari’s faction, Ibrahim Birnin Magaji and Publicity Secretary of Marafa’s faction, Bello Bakyasuwa on Monday said the attack was a clear signal as to what could happen in the state in future.

According to Yari’s faction the development should be a source of concern to all peace-loving, law-abiding citizens of the state.

The statement said the former governor’s faction was again constrained to voice out its earlier fear of the state being turned into a ‘Political War Theatre’ where thugs control the scene.

To this end, the statement quoted the chairman of the faction, Honourable Lawal M. Liman, saying the attack should be a source of concern to all peaceful citizens of the state.

According to him, the attack confirmed the fears that all will not be well on the political scene in the near future if the security agencies refuse to contain it now.

Liman explained that an issue like this if not properly responded to by the appropriate authorities could escalate into a full-blown crisis that will spell doom for the larger society.

Also, for Senator Kabir Marafa, he said the Matawalle led APC in the state is beating the drums of political war.

In a statement issued by Senator Kabir Marafa’s faction publicity Secretary, Bello Bakyasuwa while condemning the attack of one of its strong supporters said apart from the fact he was injured, his vehicle was vandalised by the thugs.

These thugs he alleged after the attack ran into the Government House to take refuge.
