I often see some objects swimming in my eyes. Kindly let me know if these are real worms.

The images you have been seeing are not worms. The medical term for this phenomenon is floaters or muscae volitantes in Latin which means ‘flying flies,’ an interesting choice indeed! The following happens when you experience them in your vision.

Your eye is filled with the clear jelly substance called the vitreous humor, in which the microscopic protein fibers clump and cast shadows on your retina that forms the inner lining of your eye. This creates transparent squiggles that seem to be floating in front of your vision. In reality, however, they move along with your eyes, since they actually do float in the liquid substance of your eye! Floaters develop in almost all people throughout their lives and the majority notice them for the first time when they are young adults and teenagers as they begin to become conscious of the way their vision works. Flashes and a sudden increase in the number of floaters or any kind of shadowing effect requires urgent eye examination.
