A yet-to-be-identified woman who jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos has been recovered dead.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed in a statement on Friday that the incident occurred on Thursday around 4 p.m. near the University of Lagos waterfront, prompting a swift response from the Marine Police stationed in the area.
According to Hundeyin, the woman’s body was later recovered at the UNILAG shore slipway.

The statement reads, “An unidentified lady, whose name is yet unknown, reportedly jumped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the water at UNILAG waterfront on Thursday at about 4 p.m.
“She was recovered at the University of Lagos shore-slip way by a team of marine police attached there, and she was confirmed dead by a team of UNILAG medical doctors in the presence of a police team from Sabo division.”
Hundeyin added that the body had been evacuated to the Infectious Disease Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for preservation, while an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
