PHILANTHROPIST cum pharmacist, Chidinma Odu- Obi Agho has revealed the reason her self owned charity organisation, ‘Pharmhealth’, a non governmental organisation, is channeling its resources towards promoting the well-being of residents, by making them aware of the dangers of un- diagnosed diabetes, hypertension, malaria, cholesterol and other minor ailments.
As part of her plans, Pharm. Chidinma disclosed that the NGO would also be embarking on a lot of sensitisation exercises on creating awareness on health related issues and how to tackle them medically.
She said, “The number of young people and adults who are sadly unaware of the problems these diseases; diabetes, malaria amongst others is growing and little is made of them, as other diseases make the news more’.
Speaking on what drives her passion towards creating the foundation, Chidinma noted that her field of profession had given her the opportunity to come into contact with people with different health conditions but they were not aware of them due to lack of screening, but that her organisation will help bring awareness and educate people who are underprivileged.
Reiterating the need for parents to take utmost importance to their children’s well-being; she noted that all parents, irrespective of their field of study must take the health of their chil- dren serious so as to curb the effect of nursing a higher ailment if not quickly noticed on time.
Chidinma attended St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Secondary School, Woodgreen, London, where she discov- ered she had passion for science. She later proceeded to have her A levels at City and Islington College, North London, before acquiring her Masters degree in Pharmacy at University of Ports- mouth. She has been practising for over 15 years.
Chidimma is mother of three children.
