Due to economic downturn in the country, the subsequent editions after its successful return in 2010 and 2011 had suffered sponsorship lack. But feelers from some corporate organisations have it that the biggest Musical Carnival in West Africa may find interested corporate bodies that will sponsor it this year.
Valentine admitted to R that Havana activation required a lot of tactfulness, financial resources and contributions from all quarters to come to fruition, as it’s not just a run-of-the-mill show. “The huge financial burden and the difficulty in achieving a concrete plan for cost-recovery plan on the part of potential sponsors was the main reason in not holding the past editions, but we have never given up, same way that our event partner, G’ENNIE Leisure Inc, has not.

“As Sigma Chief, however, my team shall pursue the course of Havana with a renewed vigour, seriousness and uncommon commitment. No stone shall be left unturned and Havana music carnival shall hold this year by God’s grace. We shall deploy all human resources that are inherent in Our Old Sigmites Association to hold the concert, relying also on their uncommon scope of influence. To this end, a working committee is set to facilitate the revival of the carnival, organised by Sigma Club University of Ibadan since 1955. We shall also work with individuals, Media houses, Entertainment companies, among others, to make sure it holds. We must show a renewed faith in Havana for it to hold.
“Working with Sigma Club should be the interest of individuals and organisations, with respect to hosting Havana, and we are ready to preserve, sustain, and nourish the relationship and partnership that shall be established on the course of HAVANA ‘18,” he assured.
