A welcome pregnancy is a period that every married couple looks forward to, especially spouses who have been having trouble getting pregnant for a long time. Since May 2022, the “fertility coaching” service, which is famous worldwide, has been available to Nigerian women. Women can get referrals for tests, clinics, or educational kits. Fertility Coach specialists can also help decipher difficulties or conduct a full consultation based on a patient’s complaints.
A fertility coach who provides services in the Nigerian market is Maria Rudnik, a mother of 5 daughters and a fertility coach who helps you get pregnant.
In the past three months, she has conducted more than 3,000 consultations for women from Nigeria. Most of the requests are about infertility. And different women define this problem in different ways. Some wait 3-4 years and then start looking for help, while others begin to worry after 2-3 months of trying to get pregnant. Sometimes we are approached by women who are not currently planning a pregnancy but simply want to ensure that everything is normal and that they will be able to have children when they get married.
And these are different women: housewives, actresses, office managers, business women, TV presenters, models, and the unemployed. They all have the same problem: “No pregnancy.” BUT! The reason for not getting pregnant is not always infertility!
There are many reasons: a problem with hormones, ovulation, age, the male factor infertility, and more.
What is infertility in general? Medical literature defines infertility as the absence of pregnancy after 12 months of regular sexual activity without the use of contraceptives.
And it is essential to note that now the requested statistics are as follows: 1/3 of couples have female infertility, 1/3 have male infertility, and another 1/3 have paired infertility – both male and female infertility factors in the couple.
The first question a girl has to answer is: How long has she been planning a pregnancy?
If she’s planning for less than a year, we always dive into her current health condition:
- Whether the cycle is regular or not.
- How long is the cycle (normal is 21 to 35 days)
- How long the period is (normal is 3 to 7 days)
- Painful periods
- Is there any bleeding in the middle of the cycle?
- Whether there is no secretion from the breasts
- Whether she and her partner have had any sexually transmitted diseases (if yes, we tell her to have a tubal diagnosis and the partner to have a spermogram. These diseases significantly affect fertility)
- If she has such diseases as OCPD, endometriosis, etc.
- Collect complaints and symptoms
Why these tests?
A successful pregnancy requires:
- Hormonal balance
- Healthy fallopian tubes (this is where fertilization of the ovum by sperm occurs)
- A healthy uterus (where implantation takes place)
- A healthy sperm (there is no way without one)
- The fertility coach likes to say, “Mental health must be in order.” It has a significant impact on fertility, too.
If more than a year, highly recommend the following examinations:
- Transvaginal ultrasound of the pelvic organs on days 5-10 of the cycle.
- Diagnosis of fallopian tubes GSG
- Hormone tests (at least: Prolactin, progesterone, estradiol, FSH, LH, and AMH)
- Spermogram of the partner
And after the results of the examinations, make an appointment for a consultation with a reproductologist.
In this case, there is no point in waiting. To increase fertility with food and vitamins, you need to go to the doctor, look for the cause, and eliminate it if she wants to get pregnant sooner.
This is the base. If there are specific symptoms, the list of examinations expands.
Quote
“Sometimes I feel like Sherlock Holmes, analyzing every answer and trying to see signs/symptoms of some disease.
If something confuses me, I send for an ultrasound or a hormone test. And then our doctors look at the results. We do not want a woman to spend much money on unnecessary examinations. But the tests should be enough to find the reason for not getting pregnant.
If everything is OK – I explain how to calculate ovulation and plan sexual activity (once every two days). I recommend taking folic acid and wish you good luck planning your pregnancy.
Another thing I do is calm you down. I explain that a healthy woman and man typically get pregnant within 12 months. Someone can get pregnant in a month, and someone in 10. And this is normal. “ – Maria Rudnik
And the last thing important always want to say to women in Nigeria is that drugs like clomid and letrozole are not vitamins to increase fertility and are not a way for a healthy woman to get pregnant with twins. Medications can lead to self-medication, such as hormonal imbalance, ovarian exhaustion, hyperstimulation, and miscarriage. The doctor prescribes them only on prescription after the woman has been examined. And under the supervision of an ultrasound scan.
Follow the fertility coach’s recommendations. Have a healthy and fast pregnancy!
