FCT Permanent Secretary, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, who gave the assurance in Abuja during the second edition of the annual trade-fair of the market, further remarked that the current administration had already opened up some new critical roads to the market.
He, therefore, used the occasion to call on shop owners to come forth and open up their shops for businesses and to further create awareness of one-stop neighbourhood market for consumables, without fear or intimidation.
According to him, “we are doing our best. We will ensure we provide the necessary infrastructure. We have already opened up some new roads to the market. We will also ensure we include in next year budget the construction of the flyover.
“I also want to use this opportunity to call all shop owners to seize this moment to come and open up their shops for business without any fear,” he appealed.
The permanent secretary further assured residents of the territory that the present FCT leadership would continue to work assiduously to uplift their living standard while urging them to remain law abiding and also support all the policies and programmes of government.
Earlier, chairman, Local Organising Committee, Mr Wenegieme Idowu Joe, commended the architectural and engineering dexterity exhibited in the design and construction of the market, adding that its aesthetics and functionality were considered the best in the FCT in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
It will be recalled that Wuye Ultra-Modern Market was among the four Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) arrangements by FCTA to provide vibrant economic activities for the growth and development of Abuja since 2003 to early 2014 when it was commissioned.
The market has state-of-the-art facilities such as clinic and fire station that serves the entire Wuye District. It also has primary facilities like meat stall, farmers market, GSM/computer repair shops, cold rooms, among others.
