Seasons and trends change, what is the vogue one day is out the next. Style, however, is a different matter.
Despite the recurring trends in fashion, certain men’s clothing will always keep you looking fresh, no matter the time or year.
These items are the essential building blocks for new and unique outfits without too much fuss and every man should have them.
Here are some of them:
White shirt: Invest a bit of extra money into a plain white work shirt and you will reap the rewards. Whether worn open-collared with chinos or with a tie and suit, the classic white shirt is an absolute must in all gentlemen’s wardrobes.
Two piece suit: A two-piece suit can be worn formally or to smarten your look. You can explore the various colours but navy is the winner when it comes to wearing it for different occasions and looking great.
A pair of black jeans/trousers: This needs to be treated well to retain its deep colour, which means following label instructions closely. Look for a pair with just the right amount of stretch to stay comfortable all day long, because you might be wearing them a lot.
Denim jacket: The greatest advantage of a denim jacket is its layering potential. Having a denim in your wardrobe provides you with multiple ways of styling yourself, so you are never caught wearing the same thing over and over. On days when you still need a little extra warmth, the denim jacket will be of great help.
Black lace-up shoes: Whether it is for smart occasions or workwear, a classic black leather lace-up is the ideal accompaniment for gentlemen who understand one of the key principles of fashion.
Cufflinks: Every gentleman needs a good pair of cufflinks. As long as you have a long-sleeved shirt with the right holes in the cuff, you can work them into just about any outfit to put a personalised stamp on your look
Plain-coloured tie: While having an ample supply of ties to choose from is advisable, an absolute wardrobe essential is a simple, plain-coloured one that will go with every single suit combination and formal occasion.
Plain white T-shirt: Another classic that never goes out of style is the plain white T-shirt. It is the perfect thing to wear to make a statement, subtle or bold. You could try teaming it with jeans for the ultimate cool weekend look.
Dark blue jeans: Timeless and iconic, the dark blue denim jeans have been the staple of a man’s clothing collection for centuries. Pair these with a plain white shirt and you are good to go.
Other wardrobe essentials include a pair of black Chelsea boots, a black t-shirt, a pair of slim-fit jeans, a pair of white tennis shoes, a leather jacket, brown lace-ups, black shirt and a good selection of socks.
