Within a short while, the news had engulfed the social media space, with many condoling the Olaiya family, while posing questions as to why people allow their entertainment icons ‘die’ before giving them necessary attention.
However, the family of veteran comedian would later release a statement, dismissing claims that the 83 year old icon had passed away. His son Yemi, who spoke on telephone, debunked such claims.
‘Baba is still with us. He is certainly not dead and I spoke to him today.’
He further denied that he was in a coma and added that he was in good health.
This report comes few months after he was reported to have died early this year, a rumour which his family has been forced to refute several times.
Having started his theatre group in 1969, the veteran actor and comedian, Baba Sala is widely regarded as the first king of comedy in Nigeria. The question now is, “Who wants Baba Sala dead”?
