Association of Tricycles owners under the auspices of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) in Ondo state, has directed its members to henceforth pay and collect tickets directly into the association purse.
This was contained in a letter to the state government and signed by the counsel to the TOAN, ASEI Human Right of Nigeria, and signed by the Director Legal Services, South West Zone, Helen Akinmboni, said the association will however, pay into the state government coffers.
Akinmboni said the steps became necessary to ensure that the state government is not deprive necessary revenue.
The National Secretariat of the association insisted that only the Ondo state Chairman and the state Secretary are those appointed to oversee the affairs of the association in the state, saying “ticket fees and other payments should be made through the afforementioned officers.
The TOAN however, disclosed that only the leadership of the tricycle association which included the Chairman and the state secretary, Comrade Adefehinti Adeniyi and Comrade Ibrahim AbdulGafar respectively are empowered by the national headquarters to collect tickets on behalf of the association in Ondo state.
The association sought the cooperation and immediate response of the state government to rid off the intruders who acted as agents of the tricycle and government agents.
The letter titled Payment and Collection of tickets read: “We are ASEI Human Right of Nigeria representing the best interest of Government, Corporate bodies, Individuals particularly Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) Ondo State Chapter hereinafter referred to as our Clients for ease of identification on behalf of whom we write to you with reference to the above subject matter.
“We wish to inform you about the need to introduce Comrade Adefehinti Adeniyi the State Chairman and Comrade Ibrahim AbdulGafar the State Secretary of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) Ondo State Chapter whose appointment from National Headquarters office to administer the affairs of the Association in Ondo State are the authorized persons to pay and collect tickets on behalf of members of TOAN in Ondo State.
“TOAN is a registered trade union in Ondo State under the administration of the National Office of TOAN Abuja and not under Ondo State Government Officials.
“Intruders into the business of Ondo State Government and TOAN should be discouraged. TOAN is affiliated to Trade Union Congress (TUC) where dues are promptly remitted. Ondo State Government should therefore generate revenue through the State ticket.
“You are hereby enjoined to follow due process of the law in this transaction as regards the State ticket, because necessary action will be taken against intruders, nobody is above the law, sales of ticket should continue within 24 hours for compliance to the rules and regulations.
“Please confirm any information from these numbers to avoid impersonation of officers of TOAN: 08030605523-State Chairman 09036489829-State Secretary.
