The Department of State Security (DSS) in Kano have arrested five persons over the kidnap of a six-year-old, Abdallah Abdulkadir Salisu of Gadon Kaya, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
However, the purported kidnappers who are mainly underage boys of 16, 18 and 20 years, were said to have connived with the cousin of the victim, one Abdulhadi Ibrahim who initiated the nefarious act.
According to the DSS officer who led the operation to arrest the kidnappers, the boys met, agreed and perfected the criminal act in order to have enough money to celebrate last Eid Festivities.
He disclosed that the father of the victim, Abdulkadir Salisu, reported to the Kano Command sometime in July this year 2021 that his son was missing.
The DSS immediately swung into action and captured the boys who had already collected a ransom of N150,000 from an earlier demanded ransom of N5 million.
According to the source, they had already spent the money.
DSS added that Abdulhadi Ibrahim who connived with others used one Adam Shehu who rode a tricycle (Keke NAPEP) to convey the six-year-old boy to a hiding place where Aminu Salisu stayed with the boy for three days.
After they collected N150,000 cash while the victim was said to have been returned to a hiding place where the DSS operatives traced and rescued him unharmed.
“However, the parents of the boys have agreed to refund the ransom to the father. The boys are still with us until all necessary requirements of possible bail are completed.
The ring leader of the kidnappers, Abdulhadi Ibrahim, 18, confessed at the DSS of organizing the criminal act against his cousin, but begged for leniency
