In a significant stride towards enhancing educational infrastructure in Nigeria’s riverine communities, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) has refurbished and upgraded the Sologha Ekpemukpolo Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre in Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
This initiative, part of TSSNL’s corporate social responsibilities, which will serve candidates riverine communities in Delta, Bayelsa and Ondo states, aims to provide local students with direct access to essential examination facilities, eliminating the need for arduous travel to urban centres.
Originally established in 2012 by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) as an ICT hub, the centre has undergone significant transformations.
In 2021, recognising the challenges faced by students from riverine areas who had to journey to the hinterlands for examinations, the Honourable Member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Rt. Honourable Julius Gbabojor Pondi advocated for its upgrade to a JAMB-accredited CBT centre.
This endeavour ensured that local students could undertake their examinations within their community, reducing logistical challenges and associated risks.
However, over time, the facility’s infrastructure began to deteriorate, with equipment failures and structural issues becoming apparent.

Addressing these concerns, TSSNL undertook a comprehensive refurbishment. The centre now boasts 250 brand-new HP computers, modern toilet facilities, vibrant air conditioners and enhanced connectivity through Starlink internet services.
To ensure sustainable operations and mitigate reliance on diesel generators, a solar inverter system has been installed, providing an uninterrupted power supply.
Ms Daisy Jaja, Administration Manager of TSSNL, who represented the Managing Director, Chief Kestin Pondi, during the unveiling, emphasised the company’s dedication to empowering communities.
She said, “Today is not just about the donation of equipment; it is about a promise—a promise to invest in the future, to bridge the gap between dreams and reality, and to ensure that no ambition is left unrealised due to a lack of resources.”
Mr. Victor Isereke, the centre’s manager and operator since its inception, expressed profound gratitude for the transformation. “Tantita has renovated the entire facility, replacing all computer systems with 250 brand-new units. They’ve also constructed modern toilet facilities and provided Starlink internet services. To ensure we aren’t dependent on diesel, they’ve equipped us with a solar inverter system capable of powering the entire centre,” he remarked.
Rt. Honourable Julius Gbabojor Pondi, who was represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon.Tonkiri Apu, lauded TSSNL’s commitment to community development. “Tantita Security Services has, once again, demonstrated its dedication to the Niger Delta region by upgrading the Ogulagha JAMB centre to international standards.
“This initiative ensures our children can access education without the challenges of travelling to distant locations for examinations,” he stated.
The refurbishment has been met with enthusiasm from the student community. Miss Isaac Hosanna, a Senior Secondary School Two Science student, shared her relief: “Previously, students had to cross the sea to write JAMB exams, which was challenging. Now, with our own centre, we are very happy and thankful.” Similarly, Miss Peter Favour, also in Senior Secondary School Two, expressed her optimism: “I feel very happy that the situation is different for us now, thanks to this CBT centre. We are grateful to Tantita.”
Community leaders have also pledged to safeguard the facility. Mr. Daniel Okebor, the Ogulagha Community Chairman, emphasised the importance of security: “We have implemented measures to ensure the centre is protected from vandalism. Someone is always present to oversee and ensure that access is controlled. We are committed to preserving this valuable asset.”
Dr Uche Ifioko from the Project Management Office (PMO) of TSSNL commented on the importance of sustainability, urging the community to ensure the project’s longevity. He stated, “It now falls on the youths and the community at large to ensure that this project remains as it is or even gets better as the years roll by.”
As the CBT JAMB Centre in Ogulagha stands revitalised, it symbolises hope and opportunity for countless students in the region. With enhanced facilities and resources, the centre is poised to be a beacon of knowledge and success for generations to come.
The successful refurbishment of the CBT centre exemplifies the impact of collaborative efforts between corporate entities and local communities. By investing in educational infrastructure, TSSNL is not only enhancing academic opportunities but also fostering socio-economic growth in the Niger Delta region.
