The old students of St Anne’s School Ibadan, under the auspices of the Seminary-St Anne’s School Old Girls Association (SSASOGA), have donated stools to the school.
The donation took place on the school’s premises on Monday, with members of the association, the principals, and some staff of the school present.
The 1996 graduating class of the school donated 51 stools to school II for their science laboratories, while the national SSASOGA donated 40 stools to the senior school.
The national president of SSASOGA, Mrs Olufunmilayo Kehinde, commended the 1996 old students for deeming it fit to remember their alma mater and for giving to the children of others.
“You are not doing this for man only, but also for God. Success will come to the students, staff, and teachers as they sit on the stools,” the president prayed.
Representing the 1996 old students were the president of the set, Mrs Abimbola Omipidan; the vice president of the set, Mrs Dupe Adewole; Mrs Olufunmilayo Akinlotan; and Mrs Funmilola Maxwell.
On behalf of their set, Mrs Maxwell stated that the gesture, which was borne out of their love for the school that produced them, was one of the ways they chose to mark their 28 years of graduating from the school.
“With these stools, we believe laboratory work will be much easier for the students. There should not be any excuses for not teaching the student on account of non-availability of stools,” she said.
Handing the stools to the principal of school II, Mrs Maxwell charged the school to properly take care of the stools and put them to optimal use for the development of the students.
The principal of school II, Dr Olasunmbo Savage, while appreciating the 1996 set and the SSASOGA executives, described the donations as unexpected gifts that have put a smile on their faces.
“It has been a lot of challenges for us in taking care of our students, especially those utilising the laboratories. Sometimes, some will stand during lab sessions. Others have to move chairs from their classes to the laboratories,” she said.
