Soya milk is basically a plant-based drink produced by soaking and grinding soya beans. This drink is masked as a healthy food; it is a refreshing rich drink. This drink has the ability to improve blood lipid. It is high in saturated fat and cholesterol, and it is very nutritious. It is a healthy alternative to cow milk; it is composed of proteins, carbohydrates, fat and fiber. It is a good and stable emulsion of oil, water and protein.
INGREDIENTS
-1 ¾ cups of dried soya beans.
– 2 quarts of water.
-1 panda leaf.
-1 slice fresh ginger root.
– 1 teaspoon vanilla.
-1/2 cup white sugar.
NOTE: The panda leaf, ginger and vanilla are optional, but they help reduce the bean flavour.
Preparation of SOYA MILK
- Soak beans overnight in water. Drain, rinse and discard water. Combine soaked beans with 2 quarts fresh water. In a food processor or blender, process beans with water until it is smooth
- Strain into a pot through a double layer of cheesecloth, or a fine sieve. Then, add panda leaf, ginger [optional] and sugar to taste.
- Boil soya milk for 15minutes. Stir frequently to prevent skin from forming. Remove panda leaf or ginger, then flavor with vanilla. Stir in sugar to taste. Then refrigerate.
- Serve and drink your chilled soya milk.
