EIGHT persons including four males, three females and a girl lost their lives in an auto crash that occurred on the old Abeokuta-Lagos expressway, on Sunday afternoon.
The incident, according to the Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Tunde Akinbiyi, happened in front of Police Post at Ewekoro area of Ogun State.
Akinbiyi said the driver of the ill-fated passenger vehicle with registration number AKD 649 FP rammed into a stationary vehicle due to excessive speeding which led to the loss of control.
The blue Toyota Corolla Sport with registration number AKD 649 FP had 10 occupants in it and was said to be traveling towards Abeokuta, the state capital.
The TRACE PRO said a pregnant woman, a boy sustained injuries and taken to General Hospital at Ifo for medical attention, while the latter was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.
The remains of the unlucky ones have been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.
Akinbiyi said it took the combined efforts of TRACE and the Federal Road Safety Corps personnel to evacuate the vehicle and the victims of the accident.
