Seven persons, including two female children, have been reported dead in a fatal lone auto accident at the Otte community along the Ilorin-Ogbomoso expressway in the early hours of Sunday.
The number of people killed in the accident included three male adults, two female adults and two female children.
The accident, caused by over-speeding, overloading and tyre burst, involved a white commercial Mazda bus with registration number ZUR 159 XJ loaded with 28 people.
The 28 people involved in the accident included 13 males and seven females, as well as two male children and six female children.
It was gathered that the accident occurred at about 3:30 am with seven persons losing their lives on the spot, while others sustained varying degrees of injury, such as deep cuts.
Speaking on the development, the state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Jonathan Owoade, said that the crash resulted due to a tyre burst and loss of control.
He said both the injured victims and the dead bodies were taken to the Kwara state general hospital and Gari Alimi private hospital, Ilorin.
“We received help from the State Ministry of health. They gave us an ambulance to support our own ambulance to evacuate the victims to the hospital,” he said.
The sector commander, who said that items recovered from the accident included 14 big bags, added that the vehicle had no national driver’s license.
He also said that the vehicle involved in the accident had been handed over to a divisional state traffic office.
The sector commander also warned members of the public to desist from over-speeding and overloading to prevent any such unfortunate incidents.
