Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has been praised by North Central women for her courage and resilience in the face of what they described as coordinated acts of intimidation, including her suspension from the Senate, an alleged assassination plot, and a recent robbery attempt.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued in Makurdi on Wednesday by the Chairperson of the North Central Women Front (NCWF), Mrs Mary Adamu, who described the senator as a beacon of bravery and a defender of truth. According to her, the attacks targeted at Akpoti-Uduaghan were deliberate efforts to undermine progress in Kogi Central and to deter her from facilitating appointments and development projects to her constituency.
“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is a symbol of courage and determination. We are incredibly proud of her,” Adamu declared.
The NCWF did not hold back in its criticism of the leadership of the 10th Senate, accusing it of inciting public resentment and promoting hate through its handling of the senator’s suspension. The group praised Akpoti-Uduaghan’s principled stance in the face of adversity and hailed her for speaking out against injustice and taking bold actions that benefit her people.
“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s courage provides us with hope and reinforces our capacity to live freely,” the statement read, adding that cowardly acts aimed at silencing her would not succeed.

Standing in solidarity, the women affirmed their support for the senator, stating that all women across Nigeria should be emboldened to emulate her bravery. “It is our responsibility to ensure that people like Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan are not sidelined over the stand taken by them,” the group insisted.
They further lauded her eloquence, boldness, and tangible efforts, particularly her readiness to challenge the status quo by “speaking truth to power.” The NCWF demanded that the Senate reverse its decision to suspend her.
“Any woman who is not outraged with the action of the Senate President and his co-travelers, frankly, we don’t know whether that person deserves to be called a woman in Nigeria.”
