Barring any last-minute changes, the Senate Committee on Public Accounts will dedicate Wednesday to quiz the permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Gabriel Aduda on series of infractions against the books of the federal government leading to revenue losses.
Chairman of the committee Matthew Urhoghide, who said this at the weekend said the ministry has recorded over 22 offences and got queried by the Office of the Auditor General (OAuGF) which it forwarded to the Senate for action.
According to the records, the ministry has five queries for the year 2016, nine for the year 2017 and eight for the year 2018 amounting to 22 queries in all.
This, Urhoghide said has made the ministry, agency of government with the highest infractions documented by the Auditor General of the Federation (OAuGF)
The panel Chairman expressed worry at that knack of the ministry to record such a level of infractions.
“It is like you are a perpetual most indicted ministry in the report and there is no justifiable evidence given to vacate the queries raised.
“It behoves on you as permanent Secretary to explain all these even though many of these are out of the ministry in the many missions,” he stated.
Responding before taking the oath of the committee Aduda said the ministry overseas over 170 Foreign missions and these anomalies are expected to be corrected.
