The crooner has come under knocks from a section of his fans, who have been reacting angrily to his new song, some of them calling for its ban on the airwaves.
Sciencestudent was released by Olamide about six weeks ago, but the lyrics seem to be talking about indescriminate consumption of different mixture of substances suspected to be inimical to the health of the young minds.
In his reaction to the outcry that greeted his new song, Olamide, who is currently planning to begin his 2018 music tour, said the relatable music was never meant to encourage drug abuse among youths, who appear to be his cash cow.
Olamide insisted that as much as many Nigerian youths have embraced the song, he urged them to relfect on the subject, which discourages drug abuse in any form.
The singer, who dominated a greater part of 2017 with his popular song, WO, had hoped to kick off from where he stopped last year, and has been making efforts to dissuade the minds of many people against drug abuse.
He advised people to stop mixing substances they don’t know about, even as he warned them not to seek to reach what he described as the ‘highness state’, but a state of purpose, fulfillment and passion discovery.
“Together, let’s put an end to drug abuse and save as many lives as possible. The video of the song will be out soon and I can’t wait for you all to see it.”
