It’s been 32 years with a lot of roses for the governor of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) in Oyo state, Rose Odika, who could now, undoubtedly, be referred to as a veteran in the Nigerian movie industry, having paid her dues over time.
Since 1989, this gorgeous actress has been gracing our screens and this year, she has decided to celebrate this milestone in grand style. Three notable traditional rulers in Yoruba land, His Imperial Majesties, Oba Lamide Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadan and Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, would be the royal fathers of the day, while Reverend mother Abimbola Esther Ajayi will be the Mother of the day.
The event, a 3-in-1 celebration, is packed with three major programmes – the 32 years on stage celebration, the investiture of ‘Pillars of Project Bond’ and a fund raiser. Speaking on the significance of this event, Rose Odika said: “Looking back at the time I started and looking at the fact that, 32 years after, I am still relevant, I think it I worth celebrating, the event is just all about thanksgiving and to say God I thank you for the journey so far.”
‘Rose Odika 32 years on stage’ celebration will start with a church service at the Church of Ascension Catholic Church, Aare New Bodija, Ibadan by 10 am, while the event proper will take place at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Liberty Road, Ibadan by 1 pm, all on Saturday, July 10.
