An aspirant contesting for a seat in the House of Representatives to represent Yewa North & Imeko/Afon federal constituency in Ogun State, Gbenga Akinwande, has appealed to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to slash the cost of the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms by 50 per cent across board.
He said this becomes necessary to make middle class Nigerians and those in the lower class will be able to see the party as a true progressives party that can tackle many of the nation”s problems.
While chatting with journalists, Engr Akinwande noted that the APC will suffer leadership’s competences if it goes ahead with the current nomination fees.
He noted that many good aspirants will be disenfranchised from contesting based on the current prices for the nomination forms which he described as too outrageous.

“Considering the fact that the APC as an amalgamation of people, mostly of leftist and centre-left ideologies and not of the extreme right ideologies as applicable in the PDP, thus it is imperative for the APC to trend softly to become a great party like the African National Congress (ANC) in South Africa. It was such kind of extreme right ideology that led to the failure of the PDP in 2015,” he said.
Akinwande also advised the PDP not to jettison power rotation to the South, saying that if the PDP becomes insensitive to this issue, the party will go into oblivion in the nearest future.
