When some music lovers hear the song; ‘Soft work’, what readily comes to mind is the artiste behind that hit song, Folarin Falana, a.k.a Falz the Bahd Guy and when you think of Falz, his stylish signature vintage clear eye glasses will also come to mind. Although, the trendy clear eye wear is also the in-thing in the fashion world, but Xquisite Style has to give it to the actor, comic and hip-hop star, Falz, for making it a trend on the Nigeria style scene. Before we could say ‘style’, Nigerian celebrity fashionistas like Temi Otedola, Agatha Ashi, Juliet Ibrahim, Ashleigh John and so on were spotted with this edgy and unique eyewear. The best thing about clear eyewear is that they are almost invisible from afar; they do not hide most of your face as much as large glasses with dark frames do. These vintage clear glasses can, in fact, be very cool, trendy and they go well with almost any kind of complexion and outfit.
However, clear glasses are not meant to be worn as a sunglass. The frame reflects sunlight and the clear lenses expose your eyes to direct sunlight. Indoor events, on the other hand, are the perfect place for wearing these clear frames. If you wear clear frame glasses correctly, there is no reason why you can’t pull off this hot trend. Clear plastic frames are light, modern, and a great way to make a bold glasses fashion statement.

Hi, my name is Nathaniel (please leave out my surname), from Abeokuta. I have a job interview coming up by the end of the month and I am worried sick on what to wear to make a good impression to my potential employer. My credentials are on-point and I need my physical appearance to also be on-point. Kate, please help! Uchecee46@yahoo.com
Hello, Nathaniel, thank you for seeking my opinion on what you should wear to nail that job interview. Please note that my opinion may not necessarily do the trick but here is my response anyway. There is nothing that speaks class, polished and a ‘ready-to-work’ impression than a man wearing a navy blue coloured pant and suit, immaculate white shirt and a crimson red tie. Finish off this look with stylish cufflinks and of course, well polished shoes. This is the signature style of some influential bankers like Tony Elumelu and business tycoons like Dr.Orji Uzor Kalu. In your own case, depending on your pocket, these getups don’t have to be expensive or a luxury brand, you can even buy them at second hand clothing stores (but ensure you get rid of their smell). Also, ensure your nails are perfectly trimmed and your breath, breezy. These tips may likely get you the job, alongside your ‘on-point credentials’ and of course, good communication skills. Best of luck, Nath!
Please why is it that most of our nollywood actresses can’t dress decently without revealing some intimate parts of their bodies? I watched the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) last Saturday and had to force my teenage daughter to retire to bed early because of the audacity of these female celebrities and their scandalous outfit. 080235*****
Hello, ma’am, the whole point of this segment is for our readers to mail me their fashion questions while I try my possible best to give them answers and not to judge people on what they feel is comfortable for them to wear or display. However, I must add that it wasn’t only Nollywood actresses who brazenly wore scandalous outfits at the just concluded AMVCA, other actor from different African countries such as Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe and the rest also sashayed the AMVCA red carpet with jaw dropping outfits that left little to the imagination. I am not defending our Nollywood stars but I believe that a dressing that makes one feel beautiful, confident and comfortable shouldn’t be castigated by onlookers, it is their choice, their bodies, not ours.
