The album listening held last Sunday at the Mitsubishi Showroom, Victoria Island, Lagos State, was graced by celebrities, including Ehiz, MI Abaga, Skales, Chopsticks Big Brother Naija winner Efe, D tunes.
The 16-track album, which was produced by Chopsticks and TUC, was out officially on October 13.
Speaking on the album the dancehall artiste said: “This is something I should have had a long time ago, but I’m excited I am having it, even though it took a while. I thank God for the success of work.
“So far, it has been good. It is about six months I’ve been working, I have been working on the album before I even joined Chocolate City. They just put hands together to make it happen. The album should have been out a long time ago, but I’m excited and that is why the name is called better late than never, because finally even though it took this long it is still better late than never.
“The message in the album is about where I started from to the struggle I’ve been through. If you listen to the first track on the album, it’s called Where you dey, it’s for guys that are just showing up now that we are there. It tells more about the hustle of the industry when one is fresh in the game.”
“So you understand it’s a struggle from where I started from to where I am now. People always think it is easy because of my relationship with MI and Ice Prince, but they have their careers. They always told us look Omo na lagos be this o you gast go hustle for yourself. I had to hustle and I knew if I don’t do that I won’t be able to get the respect that I have right now. I had to hustle from scratch. Though, they have been very supportive.”
When asked the source of his motivation, Yung L, revealed, saying, “My motivation is my fans; they put me on my toes till to make good music. Before I joined chocolate city I did not have a push, I was doing everything independently with a few folks still I got to my fans. I still got to meet people and excited. My fans are my motivation.
