The chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin, has called on those who contested chairmanship election with Mr Uche Secondus to accept his emergence as the will of God.
This was even as he indicated that BoT is ready to discuss with the members of the Fresh PDP.
The Fresh PDP, led by one Emmanuel Nwosu, has announced the formation of a parallel party as a mark of their annoyance over the just concluded PDP national convention.
Jibrin, in a news conference in Kaduna, on Thursday, has called on them and Professor Taoheed Adedoja to avoid dragging the party to court, saying, their actions are clear violation of the constitution of the party.
He said: “The BoT will no longer tolerate a deliberate violation of the constitution and any attempt by anybody to ridicule and undermine the party through any planned or sponsored litigations.”
He said the BoT would never allow people planted to destroy PDP in any disguise, saying, “we should stop any more fights among ourselves. If you are a true lover of the party, stop all court litigations and come for genuine reconciliation. All we need is to unite and support the new party executives.”
“Yesterday (Wednesday) we had a lengthy discussion with each member of the Fresh PDP and I told them of the danger they are putting themselves with their recent action.
“I understand they are aggrieved and I told them that was the reason we set up the Seriake Dickson reconciliation committee to reach out to any aggrieved member. I advised them to reach out to the committee.
“Some of the things some of them told me, I can singularly solve them. They promised to get back to me today (Thursday),” he said.
According to the BoT chairman, he did not see them as a faction but rather some aggrieved members, promising to discuss with them to solve whatever grievances they might be nursing.
Meanwhile, the PDP, on Thursday, warned aggrieved members over its just concluded national convention to embrace the ongoing peace moves or face serious sanctions.
While addressing a press conference at the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the party, its national publicity secretary, Honourable Kola Ologbodiyan, said the party would reconcile with all dissatisfied members but would not allow any splinter group to distract it.
He, therefore, admonished dissatisfied members to embrace the ongoing peace moves led by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State or be prepared to face the consequences.
According to him, “We urge any of our members who might feel strongly about the outcome of the generally accepted national convention to explore the opportunities provided by the Governor Dickson’s reconciliation committee in line with the constitution of our great party.
“Thereafter, any person who for any selfish reason resort to the ignoble path of attempting to create disaffection and disunity in our party will be made to face the consequences of his or her actions as provided for in the constitution of our great party and extant laws of the land.
“The PDP remains a highly responsible and law-abiding party, with level-playing field for all to aspire for any position but on no account should we as members submit ourselves to the manipulations of the ruling party, to be used as agents of destabilisation.”
