The week-long convention, which featured various activities, turned the camp and it’s environs into a haven, as people from different walks of life thronged the Redemption Camp, located at the Km 46 Lagos/Ibadan expressway to be part of this year’s history, to seek the face of the Lord for healings and miracles.
The convention with the theme: Dominion, held between August 6 and 12, was graced by notable clerics, government representatives and royal fathers within and outside Nigeria.
In his opening speech, the convener and the General Overseer of RCCG (Worldwide), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, emphasised the importance of the theme, as well as used the opportunity to prophesy into the lives of the worshippers, saying “my prayer for everyone of my children is that you will be greater than I, and it will begin to happen from this convention.”
“There is a link between dominion and excellence. To excel dominantly you need the spirit of excellence. I expect my children to take dominion not only in this nation, but all over the world. Your vision must be so high that it will take only God for it to come to pass. People who have the spirit of excellence are never satisfied with where they are. One of the ways you will know the secret of an excellent person is that he keeps getting better and better. There are two categories of people in this world; the dominant and the dominated. The convention is not about theory, but practical. I want everyone to go and dominate after this convention,” he added.
From all indications Adeboye’s vision for the church is still high as the cleric hinted that the world’s biggest auditorium, which accommodates more than one million worshippers at a time, is not his desired dream. He revealed that his vision is to have an auditorium as the size of the city of Ibadan, adding “When we have an auditorium the size of Ibadan, then, we will be beginning.”
The convention did not go without featuring talents, as some of the church’s One Hallelujah Record label artistes, teenagers and youths also thrilled the congregation with various performances, while the Music Director of the church, Pastor Kunle Ajayi, instrumentalists and the mass choir lifted souls throughout the convention.
One of the highpoint of the event was the graduation ceremony of the Bible College of the church, where some authorities of the church and pastors within and outside the church, including the Assistant General Overseer (Admin/Personnel), Pastor Johnson Odesola and the Personal Assistant to the G.O, Assistant Pastor Leke Adeboye, among others, were grandaunts.
The elevation of workers and ordination of ministers of God of the church was one of the activities that set a new record in the mission, as about 3,407 people were ordained as assistant pastors, including the wife of the National leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Remi Tinubu.
Adeboye alongside his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Folu, led a cross session of aged-choir, also dressed in a native attire, to thrill the congregation with a special rendition, among other performance of the programme.
Adeboye also expressed his delight over the safe delivery of pregnant women in the convention. He stated at the Deliverance Service, on Thursday night that the total number of babies born during this convention was 65; 33 boys and 32 girls, including a set of twins.
In his sermon entitled: Name above all names, Adeboye enlightened how to connect with God and using His name effectively, adding “Name is important in every man’s life; the name above heaven and on and under earth is the name of dominion. There are many military names embedded in the name of Jesus. He is the way, light, resurrection and the life and Lord.”
Adeboye, however, lamented that one of the problems facing the Christian body today was as a result of Christians negligence in making use of what they have.
“The problem with Christians is that we don’t use what we have. Anything Jesus can do you can do in as much you are associated with Him and also have the permission to use His name. We cast out demons; binds and loose anything on earth and in heaven,” he said.
He also led the congregation to pray against cancer and any form of darkness tormenting the entire body of Christ and the church at large.
