Proposed Tanke flyover will boost Kwara socio-economic development ― Orisun Igbomina

Awoyale

The proposed Tanke flyover project in the Ilorin metropolis by the Kwara State government has been described as a project aimed to boost the socio-economic development of the people and is long overdue.

In a statement by Orisun Igbomina, a socio-political group in the state on Monday, the people said that the implementation of the project would not only ease traffic congestion in the area but will also increase access to social services and contribute to poverty reduction.

President of the group, Mr Gbenga Awoyale, said that the Kwara State government has taken a bold step aimed at improving people’s lives through the proposed Tanke flyover project.

He, thus, asked Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to ignore political detractors and ensure that his government commences the flyover project and take it to completion.

“Residents of Tanke community, the motoring public, okada riders, tricycle operators and other road users in and outside the state know how the traffic congestion in the area has affected their overall wellbeing over the years and you can better imagine how happy they would be if the government can construct flyover there to ease traffic jam,” he said.

According to Awoyale, the governor should remain focused and continue to address infrastructure challenges in the state.

Orisun Igbomina also said that the opposition in Kwara State is peopled by individuals who have not come up with constructive criticisms, adding that some APC chieftains have only chosen to mislead some party members in the state by promoting intra-party conflict.

“I actually commend Governor Abdulrazaq for remaining unperturbed and keeping his calm because both the people behind the intraparty crisis and those in the leading opposition party cannot accept what they are doing to him.

“There is a village in Patigi local government called Ndanaku. The residents had never had access to potable water until Governor Abdulrazaq got this done recently.

“Ask the civil servants what their experience has been under the present government. They know what they faced under the previous administrations. See what he has done to prevent flooding in Ilorin. He facilitated the ongoing dredging of Asa River and it has greatly helped to prevent flooding,” he said.
