Primate Udofia charges administrators on stewardship

Primate of The African Church, Most Reverend Josiah Udofia, has charged the newly installed officers of the African Church to seek God first and embrace stewardship.

He stated this at the installation ceremony for Engr. Babatunde Odufuwa as the Hon. Lay President of the African Church and swearing-in of new officers at The African Church Cathedral Bethel, in Lagos, last Sunday.

The primate, in his sermon, urged the new administrators to desire God first and his righteousness, just as he restated the need to foster unity in the church.

“When we do the right thing, all the good things we have been struggling for shall be added unto us. Seeking God first gives hope to our labour and it springs up blessings for us. If we must get it right in God’s way, we must be ready to do the needful.

“It is very important for administrators to have a vision. You must work towards the progressive development of the church,” he stated.

In his address, the newly installed Hon. Lay President, Odufuwa, called on members of the church to wake up to the dreams and aspirations of the founding fathers of the church by taking part in spreading the word of God.

“The ministry of the word of God was not given to the angels, but to you and me. Let us spread the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. African Church Arise! Wake to the dreams and aspirations of our founding fathers. Arise and let us spread to every nook and cranny of this world,” he stated.

TribuneChurch learnt that Mr Jacob Okanlawon Thomas, who fell asleep in Jesus on Sunday October 7, 1945, at the age of 49, was the first president of the African Church Youngmen General Improvement Society (1933 – 1940).
