Presidency denies report on Abba Kyari, Lawal Daura’s resignation

The Presidency on Sunday night debunked speculation which suggested that both the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the president, Abba Kyari and Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawal Daura, have resigned.
Rumours were rife on Sunday that they had been asked to step aside in connection with the ongoing probe of some senior federal government officials over possible misuse of their offices.
But this has now been rubbished by the Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, who said President Muhammadu Buhari sent Kyari and errand to China while Lawal was at his desk.
He said: “That report is pure mischief. What I can tell you is that the President sent the Chief of Staff Malam Abba Kyari to China on an assignment. He left on Saturday and we are expecting him by the middle of the week.
“The DG DSS who spoke with me a few hours ago is busy on his job. Nothing to indicate resignation. I think these are mere distractions.”
