GOVERNOR Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has charged Muslim faithful to continue to pray for improvement in the state of economy of the country.
He also called on Nigerians to support the fight against corruption of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s-led government to place the country on the path of greatness.
The governor said this at the Ramadan Special Iftar with the theme “Islam, Muslims and the Challenges of Fighting Corruption in Nigeria,” organised by the state government, held at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Sunday.
‎Amosun noted that it became pertinent for every citizenry to tackle the problem of corruption headlong, promising that his administration would continue to be accountable to the people of the state.
‎He advised all Muslim faithful to imbibe the tenets of Islam by being just and accountable to the nation.
Amosun said his administration would implement projects that would have direct impact on the lives of every citizen.
The guest lecturer, Professor Abdul-razaq Kilani, also called for attitudinal change among Nigerians for successful re-engineering of the nation’s economy.
Kilani, who is the Chief Imam of University of Port Harcourt, advised all Nigerians to be agents of change, saying that corruption should not be placed at the doorsteps of politicians alone.
‎He urged Nigerians to stop celebrating corrupt people, calling on religious leaders, traditional rulers to stop conferring chieftaincy titles on people under investigation.
