A five-year-old boy kidnapped in Misau, Bauchi State has been rescued by the Gombe State Police Command and arrested the suspect who allegedly kidnapped the toddler.
The Command PPRO, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, in a statement he issued to Journalists in Gombe on Saturday, stated that “On 6th April 2025 at about 0500hrs, an individual (name withheld), a 32-year-old male of Misau LGA, Bauchi State, reported at Nafada Police Division, in Gombe State Police Command.”
He reported that on 23rd March 2025 at about 1130hrs, the above-named suspect went to his house in Misau and kidnapped his 5-year-old son to an unknown destination and later demanded a ransom of ₦7,000,000) from the complainant.
The PPRO added “Upon receiving the report, a team of officers from Nafada Division swung into action. Through diligent investigation and tracking, the suspect, Umar Idria, was arrested, and the victim was rescued at Garin Galadima Village, Nafada LGA, Gombe.”
The victim was immediately taken to General Hospital, Nafada, for a medical examination and later reunited with his family while the suspect was charged in court for persecution.
The Police Command in total arrested Sixteen suspects for various criminal offenses which included One suspect arrested for Kidnapping, Three for Conspiracy and Homicide, Six suspects for the offenses of Conspiracy, Trespass, Theft, and Receiving Stolen property, Four suspects for the offense of Rape, One for Unnatural offense and one suspect for the offense of being In-possession of 17-blocks of Dried Leaves suspected to be Indian hemp”.
For stealing Government property, the Command arrested Sani Adamu, 20 years of Dogon Ruwa, Kaltungo LGA Gombe state.
On 8th April 2025 at about 1600hrs, one Meshack Musa, the Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Awak, reported that the above-named suspect, a welder from Dogon Ruwa, Kaltungo LGA, was contracted to fix the school’s leaking overhead tank.
After completing the work, the suspect attempted to cart away an aluminum zinc from the school removed by heavy wind, though initially stopped by a security guard. The zinc later went missing, and he was arrested and found in possession of the school’s iron window frame.
The investigation is ongoing, and he will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
Also for criminal trespass, theft, and receiving stolen property, two suspects:
Babayu Mohammed alias Danbabayu and one alias Mailasting were arrested, while Abdul alias Dankishiya (as receivers) is now at large.
The exhibits recovered from them included Itel A60, Itel S18, 3 Airtel SIM cards, and stolen money.
On 9th April 2025 at about 0800hrs, one Tela Musa of Dogarawo Lawanti Village reported that on 8th April 2025 around 0340hrs, his Itel A60 phone containing Airtel and Glo SIMs, worth ₦550,000, was stolen by unknown persons.
His younger brother, Musa Adamu, and his wife, Aisha Musa, also lost their Itel S18 and Itel keypad phones. A neighbor and known habitual criminal, Babayu Mohammed alias Danbabayu, was arrested and confessed to the crime.
He named Abdul alias Dankishiya (now at large) and one alias Mailasting as receivers of the stolen phones. A search warrant was executed and led to the recovery of the above-mentioned exhibits.
Both Danbabayu and Mailasting are in custody while efforts continue to apprehend the fled suspect.
For the possession of dry leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, Bukar Yakubu, 33 years of Zagaina Quarters, Gombe, was arrested while Abubakar Walad is at large.

On 10th April 2025 at about 0700hrs, detectives from the Anti-Violence Squad of the Gombe State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted one Bukar Yakubu 33 years of Zagaina Quarters, Gombe, at New Mile 3 Gombe.
The suspect was found in possession of Seventeen blocks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that he received the consignment from an unidentified driver at New Mile 3 on behalf of his boss, one Abubakar Walad, who is currently at large.
Efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the said Abubakar Walad. The seized substances have been taken into custody as exhibits, and investigation continues. All suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
