A team of police operatives in Niger State have engaged some daredevil armed bandits in a fierce gun battle, repelled them and rescued 13 victims.
The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has therefore reassured the residents in the state that the command will not rest on its oars until crime and criminality are eradicated or reduced to the barest minimum in the state.
The assurance by the police boss is coming on the heels of a successful outing by the police tactical teams attached to Sarkin-pawa Division in Munya Local Government Area of the state, where a team of police operatives had engaged some daredevil armed bandits in a fierce gun battle and the bandits were repelled.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Niger State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun stated this in a press statement issued and made available to the newsmen on Thursday in Minna.

He said, “On 20/04/2022 at about 1300hrs, armed bandits attacked Galiwi village, via Sarkin-pawa, in Munya LGA and kidnapped some farmers who were working on their farms numbering about 13.”
The statement added that the Police tactical teams were immediately mobilised to the area, stressing the bandits were engaged in a fierce gun battle and were repelled, as a result of the firing power of the tactical teams
According to the PPRO, “The victims were abandoned by the hoodlums and they were immediately rescued unhurt as the bandits fled into the forest”.
Abiodun added that the victims were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention and were later reunited with their families.
