ANAMBRA State police commissioner, Mr Garba Umar, yesterday in Awka, decorated 5 police officers who were recently promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
The promotion followed approval by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris.
And the Officers of the Command who were promoted to their new ranks and decorated include, ACP Gabriel Onyilo Elaigwu (CSP to ACP), ACP Patrick Odoemelem (CSP to ACP) and ACP Oki Emesim Rita Oyimyare(CSP to ACP)
Others are ACP Zainab Audu Pembi (CSP to ACP) and ACP Abdu Abubakar Osu (CSP to ACP).
Performing the decoration ceremony at the Command’s headquarters, Amawbia, Umar charged the officers to show a high level of maturity and sense of responsibility in their new positions.
The Commissioner thanked the Governor on behalf of the Command for gracing the occasion and assured him of the Command’s readiness towards ensuring a hitch-free Christmas and New Year Celebrations in the State.
Mr Umar who congratulated the newly promoted officers, again, urged them to commit themselves to professionalism in discharging their duties in accordance to the World best practices.
Responding on behalf of the officers, ACP Oki Emesim Rita Oyimyare thanked the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for approving their promotions and promised that they would give their best in the discharge of their duties.
In his remark, the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, while congratulating the newly promoted Officers, appreciated security operatives in the State for making the State a reference point security-wise, saying that the strong security apparatus in the State has opened doors of investment opportunities, which he said is gradually turning the fortunes of the State citizenry for the better.
The Governor canvassed for increased efforts by the security operatives, to enable his administration to achieve more strides in the coming years, and called on them to portray themselves in a good light and observe decorum, as a lot of people are coming into the State to celebrate Christmas.
He pledged to continue to equip security agencies in the State to do more.
