A 27-year-old-man, identified as Isah Ibrahim, was, on Tuesday, paraded by the authorities of the Nigeria Police Force, Osun State command, for all allegedly masterminding the kidnap of his own father, who died in the abductors’s den after the kidnappers collected a ransom of N3 million.
Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, who made this disclosure while parading the suspects alongside other apprehended criminals said, Isah had conspired alongside Jolaannobi Saheed and three others to kidnap the father on the 17th of April, 2018 around Owode Ede.
The hoodlums, who allegedly collected N3 million ransom from the victim’s family only gave his son, Isah, a paltry sum of N45, 000 as his share of the money.
According to the Police boss, “the boy organised the kidnap of his 55 years old father by a gang of kidnappers at Owode Ede. It happened on April 17, 2018 and the police swung into action following which one Jola Anobi was apprehended and charged to court. The suspect was eventually released on bail and we continued with our investigation.
“We have arrested three more suspects that carried out the offense. The son of the victim arranged the kidnapped of his father who was eventually killed and buried near a river. The remains of the man might have been washed away. The suspects collected N3 million after the man had been killed.
“The son said that the kidnappers promised him N500,000 but was eventually given N45,000. So, for N45,000, he sold his father. The suspect who was initially charged to court and granted bail has jumped bail now.”
However, one of the suspected abductors, identified as Lateef Bello explained that he was not murdered, but was pushed against the wall, where his head hit concrete.
Bello stated,”after the kidnap, the deceased removed the hood put on his face and he was able to identify some of the kidnappers. Some of the Togolese recruited for the kidnap started pushing the man until he hit his head against the wall.”
Speaking during a chat with journalists, the deceased son, stated that “my father woke up one day and started beating me with a rod. He said I did not wake up early. I ran out and he said I should never come in again. He threw out my things and I asked my younger brother to help pack my belongings. I didn’t ask them to kill him. I had a quarrel with my father and he drove me out of the house and refused to accept me back into the house.”
