THE police in Lagos State have arrested six members of the Aiye Confraternity who were responsible for some violent clashes in the Bariga area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana, confirmed the arrest of the suspects to the Nigerian Tribune in a statement signed by him on Sunday.
Elkana said: “On November 9, at about 8:15 a.m, operatives of Operation Crush arrested one Fatai Nofiu, a.k.a Itape, and one Qudus Kazeem a.k.a Bobo at Ebute Bariga, following sustained monitoring.
“They are members of the Aiye Confraternity with allegiance to one Mohammed alias ‘Obama,’ who is their leader in Bariga.

“The gang is responsible for a series of violent attacks, armed robbery and murder in Bariga and environs.
“They are on the police wanted list for the murder of one ‘Fashola’ on November 3, at Pedro area and exhibits recovered from them include an axe, one HTC mobile phone, one Nokia mobile and one Itel mobile phone which they snatched from one Amusa Bukola at Odundi Street in Bariga.”
Elkana added that further investigation led to the arrest of four other members of the gang, namely: Muiyis Saraki a.k.a Bosingwa; Lucky Sunday, David Okpa a.k.a ‘Na God’ and Taye Balogun ‘a.k.a. Gbalagbala.
The police spokesperson said investigation was ongoing into their case and that the suspects would be charged to court.
