The crisis rocking the Plateau State House of Assembly takes another direction on Tuesday as the House presided over by the embattled Speaker of the Assembly, Abok Nuhu Ayuba sacked the Chairman, Langtang North local government, Barrister Bitrus Zulfa.
Recall that the House has been under lock and key for quite some time as a result of the leadership tussle between the sacked Abok and Hon Yakubu Sanda. The former was reinstated in March this year by the Plateau State High Court.
The moves by Abok to take control of the House along with his loyalists led to the police occupation of the House to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
At the plenary on Tuesday, Ayuba who made a dramatic return to his seat as speaker of the house sacked the Chairman of Langtang North local government area Bar Bitrus Zulfa with immediate effect after a deliberation which lasted for more than thirty minutes.
He made the declaration after a member representing Barkin Ladi and minority leader Peter Gyangdeng supported by the member representing the Riyom state constituency raised the motion.
The speaker said the chairman Bitrus Zulfa is not the rightful occupant of the seat and therefore he should vacate the seat and ask the Police Commissioner Bartholomew Onyeka to enforce the judgement because a motion has been passed to that effect and if he fails they will order for his arrest.
The members said his actions is an act of impunity and be ordered to vacate the office immediately.
