As part of his efforts at alleviating poverty, a businessman and philanthropist in Ogbomoso, Mr Tunde Aremu has empowered 90 people with motorcycles, refrigerators and generators.
At the event which was chaired by former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, 50 people were empowered with motorcycles while 40 others were empowered with refrigerators and generators.
Otunba Alao-Akala, who was at the event but designated the member representing Ogbomoso North State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mrs Wumi Oladeji, charged the beneficiaries of the empowerment to make good use of the gestures.

Alao-Akala, however, warned the beneficiaries to take the gesture as a rare opportunity, cautioning them not to sell the items. He said, “Make good use of the motorcycles, refrigerators and generators to better your lots.”
The philanthropist and donor, Mr Aremu, admonished the beneficiaries and others to strive for economic prosperity and self-reliance in the society, noting that he has the love of Ogbomoso at heart.
Aremu, also at the occasion, warned people to desist from evil, such as armed robbery, hired assassination, among other social vices.
His words: “If you are kidnappers, hired assassins, armed robbers, you need to change your hearts and ways. If you come to me, I advise you on how your lives could be better.”
It would be recalled that Aremu had done similar empowerment programmes in the past and that the recent one was part of the activities to dedicate his new house at Baptist High School area, Ogbomoso.
