The Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom in the Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, Luke Kalanama VIII, has paid tribute to Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for paving the way for greater development in the Niger Delta region.
He also prayed for peace in the region and for the well-being of those who work for its prosperity.
The monarch made the statement during the unveiling of the Niger Delta Media House by GbaramatuVoice in Warri.
Kalanama VIII, who officially inaugurated the Niger Delta Media House in Ogunu, Warri, prayed for Tompolo’s good health and longevity to ensure the realisation of the dream of liberating the Niger Delta.
“My prayers have been with GbaramatuVoice. The media house started as a small seed a few years ago and has now blossomed.
“We trust that this is just the beginning. With dedication and an unwavering desire to take this to the next level, you will succeed.
“The media space is crucial for expressing the aspirations of the Niger Delta. You have done a great job and it is our prayer that you not only sustain but also improve upon this achievement.
“You have come a long way and today we are opening this magnificent edifice. But the journey is far from over. I envision Gbaramatu Voice owning an expansive space with a high-rise building in the future and we will all play our roles to ensure its sustainability.
“We must tell our own stories. No one outside our region can narrate them as we would. We are the ones laying the golden egg and we must benefit from it. We admire the developments in Abuja and Lagos, but we must reclaim what rightfully belongs to us.
“I pay glowing tribute to him for opening up the Niger Delta for greater things. We pray for his good health and long life so that the dream of liberating the region becomes a reality,” the monarch said.
Kalanama VIII also commended the National Coordinator of CEPEJ, Chief Sheriff Mulade, for his support of the media house over the years.
