The apparent southeast candidate for the post of the national secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Sam Anyanwu, has denied being sponsored by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state.
Anyanwu, who emerged as the consensus candidate of PDP leaders of the southeast where the position had been zoned, submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms at the party secretariat in Abuja on Monday where he also said his selection as the national secretary of the party would cause a tsunami of movement back to the party.
Fielding questions from reporters he debunked the assertion that the Rivers governor was behind his candidacy for the party scribe.
According to him, Wike from Rivers state could not have imposed him on the people of the southeast.
He described himself as an accomplished politician who he said the people were willing to listen to.
According to him, many members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the southeast were waiting for his confirmation as the national secretary to move back to the PDP.
“They have gone to the APC, entered a hole and saw snake. They are coming back now,” he stated.
