The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has kicked off its campaign for the January 28, 2017, bye-election into Etsako Federal Constituency seat of the House of Representatives vacated by Mr. Philip Shaibu, who is now the deputy governor of Edo State.
The campaign rally took the party to Auchi in Etsako West, Fugar in Etsako Central and Agenebode in Etsako East local government areas, where the state chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, formally introduced the party’s standard bearer in the election, Comrade Jude Imagwe, to the people.
At the Palace of the Okumagbe of Wepa Wano clan in Agenebode, HRH George Egabor Omoaze 1, Chief Orbih appealed to the traditional ruler to assist in the enlightenment of the people of the area about the bye-election and the need to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming election.
The traditional ruler who prayed for the PDP candidate however assured that he and his chiefs would embark on an enlightenment campaign to ensure that the people turn out en-masse for the election.
At Auchi, Fugar and Agenebode, Chief Orbih who described Comrade Images as an upright and vibrant young man, said that a vote for him would bring integrity, unity and development to the constituency.
He called on the electorate not to be deceived into voting for the APC candidate, Mr. Johnson Eguakhide Oghuma whose eight years in the State House of Assembly was a waste to Etsako Central constituency.
Addressing the people of the constituency, Mr. Imagwe said that he was embarking on a journey that would bring even development, peace and unity to Etsako people.
He promised to provide employment opportunities for the youths, educational scholarship for students as well as skills acquisition for the army of unemployed youths.
