THERE was pandemonium in Ilare-Ijesa, a community in Obokun Local Government of Osun state on Tuesday when a suspected thug shot a couple in their residence.
The victims were identified as Elijah Babajide and Mrs Omoyeni Babajide who were both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Credible source informed Tribune Online that the hoodlum whose identity could not be ascertained allegedly shot Babajide on the chest while he shot his wife on the leg.
The attack on the couple caused apprehension in the community, but the suspected thug had been arrested by the Police and currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Osogbo.
Similarly, anti-riot policemen have been deployed to the town to calm the situation and forestall any further breakdown of law and order.

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mrs Abiodun Ige confirmed the incident, saying investigation was already ongoing.
Both the husband and wife were said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
While reacting to the crisis, the Owalare of Ilare, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku Ogidan declared that there was a rift between loyalists of the PDP and APC which led to the arrest of some members of the parties by the police and they were later released.
The monarch added that though there were gunshots in the early hours of Tuesday, the identity of the gunmen could not be established.
Oba Adeoti called on the police to arrest two principal suspects who were still at large as at the time of filing this report.
