Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation and Decagon Institute have announced a new partnership aimed at addressing youth unemployment in Anambra State, Nigeria.
The collaboration will focus on training young individuals to become skilled software engineers and facilitating their entry into the global tech industry.
Under this alliance, high-achieving graduates from Anambra interested in the tech field will be offered a VCO Foundation guarantee to access student loans for participation in the Decagon Software Engineering Training Program. The VCO Foundation, a prominent non-profit organization in Nigeria, is providing a guarantee worth N400 million to support the training of 100 students from Anambra.
Valentine Ozigbo, the Founder of VCO Foundation and a globally recognized CEO, expressed pride in the partnership with Decagon Institute. He emphasized that by empowering the youth with cutting-edge tech skills, they are not only investing in individuals but also in the entire Anambra community and beyond. Ozigbo believes that providing young people with the tools and knowledge to succeed in the tech industry will drive innovation and progress.
Decagon Institute, known for its holistic training approach, has already graduated around 1,000 software engineers who have been successfully placed in prestigious tech companies such as Microsoft, JP Morgan, Interswitch, Flutterwave, and Sterling Bank. Their training program offers unique features like the “PAY AFTER YOU LEARN” option, which includes accommodation, meals, laptops, and a supportive community of software engineers.
The VCO Foundation’s role in this partnership is crucial as it helps individuals from underprivileged backgrounds, particularly in Anambra, to access Decagon’s comprehensive training. The foundation firmly believes that education and technology can bring about social transformation.
Chika Nwobi, CEO of Decagon Institute, expressed excitement about joining forces with the VCO Foundation and extending the program’s reach to talented individuals from Anambra State. He stated that this partnership reinforces their commitment to equipping participants with essential skills and support for success in the tech industry, ensuring a promising future for them.
This collaboration not only aims to build a generation of skilled tech professionals who can drive innovation and economic growth in Anambra State but also represents a significant step in narrowing the skills gap and promoting inclusivity in the tech sector for the people of Anambra.
