The Oyo State Executive Council has approved the sum of N4,998,939,148.08 for the dualisation of Ibadan Airport Road, its adjoining access road among others spanning a total of 10.8kilometres.
State Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Professor Dahud Shangodoyin made this disclosure while briefing journalists at the Oyo governor’s office on resolutions of the executive council meeting held on Wednesday.
Shangodoyin explained that the adjoining route of 194.5metres, especially the one close to Alakia, behind Jeje Oil and Gas station, will be attended to.
He added that the work scope also covers the road from Oludare street to Bishop Philips spanning 2.0kilometres.
Also covered is the extension of the Iwo Road Interchange to Adegbayi by 400metres on the left and right.
He noted that the work to be done in the next six months also covers the service lanes by the Iwo Road Bus Terminal.
On funding, the Works and Transport Commission explained that the work will be direct payment by the state government having applied to the Central bank of Nigeria for a loan of N50billion.
Shangodoyin explained that the state government was contracting Messrs Kopek Construction Company to do the job bearing in mind that the federal government had also awarded the job of fixing the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa road to the same Kopek.
“These roads will assist in the expansion of our economy and ease of doing business and movement of people, goods and services,” Shangodoyin added.
