Oyo police assure of maximum security during October 1 celebration

Ngozi Onadeko, Oyo CP

As Nigeria marks her 61st independence anniversary on Friday, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State Command, Ngozi Onadeko, has assured the people of Oyo State of the command’s proactive measures in ensuring maximum security during the celebration.

Disclosing this in a statement on Thursday, the police image-maker in the state, DSP Adewale Osifeso, said that the command, in its move, had put in place adequate security measures to protect the residents and ensure the success of all the activities lined up for the celebration.

The PPRO stated further that the measures were also to prevent any untoward situation throughout the period of the celebration and beyond.

“Consequently, area commanders, divisional police officers, heads of tactical teams and formations throughout the command have been directed to lead the independence anniversary security operations from the frontline.

“They are to ensure high visibility and intelligence-driven patrols around the venues of the celebrations, residential areas and other places of public resort, to prevent any infiltration by hostile elements,” Osifeso said.

He added that the commissioner of police, while congratulating the state for the celebration, appealed for the continuous cooperation of all and sundry with officers and men of the Command, in the crusade against crime and criminality in the nook and cranny of the state.
