THE Oyo State Police Command has arrested two gangs of armed robbers in different parts of the state.
Parading the armed robbers at the Command headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the first gang members which is responsible for a spate of robbery attacks in the state capital, were nabbed on March 22, 2017.
“Members of the gang had concluded plans to carry out another deadly operation in Ibadan, but were nabbed before they could execute their evil acts.
“The second gang was also arrested as a result of the proactive measures put in place by the police to curb crime in the state.
“Policemen from the Alakia/Adelubi Police Division, while on a stop-and-search operation, had spotted Kunle Adelakun around Iwo-Road area of Ibadan was called for a search. In the process, two locally-made guns and six cartridges were found in his bag.
“He confessed that he was coming from Ilesa, Osun State, for an operation. After his confession, his other gang members were arrested,” the PPRO said, while thanking members of the public for volunteering information to the police at all times.
The PPRO assured residents that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude, had promised to flush criminals out of the state so that peace and tranquility can reign in the state.
