The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Johnson Adenola, has admonished two newly-promoted officers in the command to carry out their duties with the fear of God and respect for the rights of citizens.
CP Adenola gave the charge on Thursday at the decoration of the promoted officers as Assistant Commissioners of Police held at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
The decorated officers are ACPs Olawale Tiamiyu and Olumide Amos Toki.
The police boss urged them to see their new positions as added responsibilities that would ensure the safety of lives and property in the jurisdictions they would be posted to.
The Commissioner of Police had earlier had a maiden meeting with the command’s Deputy Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Heads of Units and Departments, as well as tactical unit commanders on the desired goal of strengthening the state security to make it difficult for criminals to hibernate there.
He spoke on the adoption of an eight-step action plan he designed for a more secure state, which includes strict discipline at all policing levels, respect for the rule of law, strict enforcement of all existing laws, capacity-building and ethical regeneration for police officers through training and retraining, and advanced intelligence & technology-driven policing.
Other steps include increasing layers of supervision for the officers and men of the Command, implementation of an inclusive policing strategy with a focus on community engagements, robust inter-agency collaborations with sister services, and partnerships with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and all security stakeholders.
