The Managing Director, Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, has stated that the state government is currently executing 50 road projects totalling 700 kilometres across the state.
He made this known during a routine inspection of the PAN Drive Water Intake roads in the Chikun Local Government area and the Panteka Market inter-connecting roads in Kaduna South LGA.
According to him, the state government decided to construct these roads to provide accessible routes for the people of the area and to boost economic activities in the state.
“These roads are very important projects that the state government finds worthy of reconstruction, noting that they used to be in a terrible state. Now, the people are happy as the construction progresses despite the rainy season,” he remarked.
“The state government, under the leadership of Gov. Uba Sani, has ensured that all necessary funds for the projects were made available, which has facilitated progress,” he added.
Regarding the PAN Drive intake water works in Chikun local government, where the road spans about 4.2 kilometres, he mentioned, “We are aiming for its completion next month.”
He further emphasised, “We have more than fifty road projects totalling above 700 kilometres, and it is very important to the state government. Our able Governor, Senator Uba Sani, is investing in road construction to ensure good road access to farmlands, markets, and other areas in the state.”
Meanwhile, residents of Chikun and Kaduna South local government areas of Kaduna State are rejoicing over the construction and rehabilitation of roads and drainages being executed by Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
They expressed relief that it would end the hardships and losses experienced over the years due to deplorable roads and poor drains in the communities.
According to Mr David Kabuk, a mechanic at PAN Drive, “The road had become a death trap after the abandonment of the project by the former administration of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, causing many people to lose their lives because of the bad conditions of the road, especially during the rainy season.”
Kabuk recalled an incident when a tanker driver lost control and fell on some Okada riders.
“I am one of the people who rushed to the scene to help, but we lost two of them, and that is why we are grateful to God for giving us a governor like Senator Uba Sani. We pray for more wisdom for him as he moves Kaduna State forward to the promised state.”
Similarly, Abdullahi Usman, an Okada rider, said, “Carrying passengers from Television Garage to Abuja Junction is now easy and not as hard as it was before Senator Uba Sani came on board.”
Madam Sarah Paul, who sells roasted corn at the roadside along the water intake road leading to Maigero, could not contain her excitement over the construction of the access road, saying that “the new development has brought a boost to her business.”
