Tragedy struck in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, when a middle-aged man identified only as unknown assailants reportedly slaughtered Ibariba in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased, who was working as a local security guard at a shop owned by one Baba Giwa, was on duty when the incident occurred.

As of the time of this report, the exact cause of the brutal killing has not yet been determined. However, shop owners and other business operators in the vicinity have locked their shops to sympathize with the family of the deceased.
The State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) confirmed the incident.
NSCDC Public Relations Officer Mrs. Kehinde Adeleke stated in Osogbo, “On August 12, 2024, it was reported that a middle-aged man known as Ibariba was slaughtered by unknown assailants in the early hours while at his duty post as a local security guard.”
“The man was attached to a shop owned by Baba Giwa, where the incident occurred. His body had been taken to an unknown morgue by the Ifelodun Police Divisional Office, Ikirun, before the arrival of the officers and men of the Corps.”
“An investigation has commenced by the officers in the division to determine the cause of his death and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act,” she added.
