As part of its effort to develop tennis at the grassroots level, Osogbo Tennis Club has commenced plans to organise tennis tourney amongst schools in Osun state.
President of the club, Engineer Samuel Oguntunde in a telephone conversation with Tribunesport informed that arrangement is in top gear by the club to organise tennis competition for youth of the state in order to take the game to the grassroot, discover and nurture more talents for the state and the country at large.
Oguntunde who believed in the empowerment of the youth revealed that the tourney which will hold on a yet to be fixed date will enable them excel in their chosen career and have brighter future.
The president, having commended the clubs’s honorary members: Senate Chief Whip;Senator Sola Adeyeye, former Minister for youth development;Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi and Mr Akindele Fajemiyo for their efforts at ensuring the growth and development of tennis at the grassroot level assured that the secondary schools tennis tourney will be mailed for students as the club will not entertain any form of cheating.
“We are more concerned about youth development and the growth of tennis at Osogbo Tennis Club than the social aspect of it, hence our decision to take the game to schools by organising tournaments among schools in the state, and I can assure you that there will be no room for cheating because we are targeting real school pupils”, he said.
