A traditional ruler, Eze Remigus Nnanna Ekere III of Nneator Nweafor of Isiala Mbano Local Government Council Area (LCDA) of Imo State, has described Executive Chairman, Humanity Services Project (HSP),Linus Okoroji, as a patriot, nationalist, bridge builder, and an activist of repute, who is always ready to contribute his quota to societal peace and progress.
The royal father said this in Lagos while speaking at the 71st birthday celebration of Okoroji, attended by other royal fathers, family members, kinsmen, friends, associates, neighbours, church members, among others.
Eze Nnanna, who came from Imo State with his entourage, further described the activist, who is also the acting Chairman, June 12 Coalition of Democratic Formations (J12CODEF), as a counsellor and adviser, noting that distance should not be a barrier in traversing to celebrate a loved one.
Also speaking, a chieftain of Ndigbo APC Lagos, Chief Chris Ekwilo (JP), who represented Eze Ndigbo, Lagos, congratulated Okoroji on his birthday, just as he applauded him for his “contributions to the Igbo cause, Igbo land, Lagos and Nigeria through years of activism for a better society.”
This was as he recollected how he got to know the celebrant as a member of National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) since the days of the military juntas, saying he came to appreciate the pro- democracy group more under the leadership of its late chairman, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Godwin Kanu (rtd.), “who would have been present at today’s event but for death.”
Shina Loremikan of Zero Corruption Coalition hailed the celebrant as he equally went down memory to recall how he knew Okoroji, describing him as a detribalised Nigerian who teamed up with progressive forces for the restoration of democracy and the exit of military rule in the country, just as he affirmed that the activist had “remained consistent in his belief and ideology for a better society for all till date.”
Delivering the vote of thanks, Okoroji, expressed his deep appreciation to everyone that attended the occasion to celebrate him, even as he restated call for the restructuring of Nigeria along the lines of federalism in order to douse the mistrust and agitations by the various regions in the country.
The occasion equally witnessed the cutting of tape by the royal father, Eze Nnanna Ekere 111, who doubled as chairman of the event, to unveil the viewing of the video/DVD of Governor Sanwo-Olu projects in Lagos State.
