A support group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Seyi Makinde, Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID), has described Makinde as the only candidate that has plausible solutions to the state’s challenges.
The group, which consists of Nigerian professionals from all walks of life living in different parts of the world, such as United State of America, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, China, Malaysia, Republic of Ireland, Germany, Hungary, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Botswana and South Africa, noted that it is committed to playing active role in ensuring that the state takes its leadership position in the comity of states in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by OID spokesperson, Ayotomiwa Adebayo, the group officially endorsed Makinde for Oyo State governorship in 2019.
The statement noted that the decision to identify with Makinde was based on his simplicity, empathy and care for the well-being of fellow humans.
The coordinator of the group in Hungary, Adebowale Abiodun Fafore, however, urged officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Mutiu Agboke, to conduct a free and fair election in 2019, and also called for maintenance of law and order during and after the elections.
Makinde’s exposure, success in business, leadership virtues, financial prudence, altruistic services to others, integrity and love for the people of the state, according to the group, make him more suitable to be the next governor.
“We call on other parties in the state to adopt Makinde as their governorship candidate to form a formidable alliance that will win the next gubernatorial election in 2019.
“We also call on indigenous citizens living in the diaspora to support Makinde’s quest to transform the Pacesetter State,” the release stated.

In the same development, the USA coordinator of the group, Alfred Komolafe, called on youths in the state to vote wisely and invest in their future by voting a credible and capable candidate that can deliver on his promises and dividends of democracy.
